On January 8, 2015 HWA handed over five housing units to families-beneficiaries of the Project supporting durable solutions of the revised strategy for implementation of Annex VII of Dayton Peace Agreement, funded by UNHCR and the EU. Two families received sustainability grants-moto cultivators with trolleys and motor saws for economic strengthening of their households. Several other houses shall be reconstructed and provided with accompanying infrastructure and sustainability measures over the next three years.

On January 15, 2015, HWA handed over two houses with the accompanying infrastructure in Municipality Bosanski Petrovac as a result of activities in the Project „Support to durable solutions of revised strategy for implementation of Annex VII of the Dayton Peace Agreement” funded by the UNHCR and the EU. This project is being implemented in ten Municipalites in B&H. Besides the homes and the infrastructure, this Project, which is three years long, also provides support for economic empowerment of beneficiaries – economic sustanability, and therefore construction/reconstruction of several other housing units is envisaged by this project.

 

HWA helps after floods in B&H – 20 housing units reconstructed in settlement Fojnica in Maglaj

After two months long works, reconstruction of 20 houses devastated by floods in May 2014 is now complete. HWA implemented the funds of cca 211.000 EUR donated by humanitarian organization ORF TV from Austria „Neighbour in need“ project. Owners are very happy to finally be able to move back into their homes.

Throughout the process, cooperation with Municipal authorities and citizens associations has been excellent. Reconstruction of the houses is only a first step in this project. Next steps foresee the reconstruction of the river bank reventment, as in some locations the river Bosnia reached the reconstructed houses and is jeopardizing them again.

 

SUPPORT WITH JOB CREATION TO SMALL AND MEDIUM SIZED COMPANIES IN MAGLAJ AND ŽIVINICE

As a partner in the Project supporting durable solutions for implementation of Annex VII Dayton Peace Agreement funded by UNHCR and EU, HWA donated non-returnable grants-machines needed for expanding of production capacities to two companies in Maglaj: KB Plastik – producing PVC and aluminum joinery and INOX trade – producing and trading stainless steel. On December 9, 2014 in the presence of UNHCR and Municipality representatives KB Plastik received a machine SV 290 for cleaning PVC profiles and on December 15, 2014 INOX trade received a milling machine for metal processing.
