HWA helps after floods in B&H – 20 housing units reconstructed in settlement Fojnica in Maglaj

After two months long works, reconstruction of 20 houses devastated by floods in May 2014 is now complete. HWA implemented the funds of cca 211.000 EUR donated by humanitarian organization ORF TV from Austria „Neighbour in need“ project. Owners are very happy to finally be able to move back into their homes.

Throughout the process, cooperation with Municipal authorities and citizens associations has been excellent. Reconstruction of the houses is only a first step in this project. Next steps foresee the reconstruction of the river bank reventment, as in some locations the river Bosnia reached the reconstructed houses and is jeopardizing them again.

 

SUPPORT WITH JOB CREATION TO SMALL AND MEDIUM SIZED COMPANIES IN MAGLAJ AND ŽIVINICE

As a partner in the Project supporting durable solutions for implementation of Annex VII Dayton Peace Agreement funded by UNHCR and EU, HWA donated non-returnable grants-machines needed for expanding of production capacities to two companies in Maglaj: KB Plastik – producing PVC and aluminum joinery and INOX trade – producing and trading stainless steel. On December 9, 2014 in the presence of UNHCR and Municipality representatives KB Plastik received a machine SV 290 for cleaning PVC profiles and on December 15, 2014 INOX trade received a milling machine for metal processing.

A PROJECT AIDING POST-FLOOD SANITATION COMPLETED

naslovnavatrogasciOn November 6 and 7, 2014 HWA delivered 30.000 KM worth of tools and equipment neccessary for field operations to the fire brigade departments in towns Tuzla, Bijeljina and Brčko District. 

These deliveries were a final activity of a project funded by Austrian Public Broadcasting Service ORF Organisation Neighbour in Need (NIN) designated to providing post-flood aid to public institutions in rehabilitation of living and communal spaces.  In the previous phase of this project, in July this year public utilities departments specialized in sanitation Brcko, Tuzla and Bijeljina received sets of spinal motor sprayers+disinfectant liquids that were crucial for disinfestation, disinfection and cleaning of communal facilities.

ROMA SETTLEMENT IN JAJCE MUNICIPALITY GETS AN ASPHALT ROAD

putjajce5Works on recovery of access and local road in settlement Kuprešani – Jajce municipality have been completed within the contracted deadline and technically accepted on October 13 by HWA with the presence of representatives of Ministry of Human Rights and Refugees (MHRR), representatives  of Jajce Municipality and construction supervision company. Approximately 400 residents of Kuprešani shall directly and indirectly benefit from implementation ot fhis project which has been completed hereby. The project is financed by the municipality Jajce and MHRR through the Roma inclusion Decade 2005-2015 funding.
